What is Fear of God
Fear of God is an American luxury fashion brand, founded in 2013 in Los Angeles by Jerry Lorenzo. Its purpose was to create timeless wearable clothing with the brand’s unique interpretation of American fashion, which has become a symbol of contemporary culture.
Early in his career, Jerry Lorenzo was best known, if at all, for hosting parties in Los Angeles.
The clothes he designed - t-shirts, sweatshirts, flannels and tank tops in various sizes, seemed strange to most people at first glance, but over time became very popular.
In 2008, Lorenzo traveled to Los Angeles, managing Dodgers star Matt Camp, and working as a party producer designed to attract rappers and athletes. Lorenzo was in charge of overseeing Kemp's appearance and found it difficult to get some of the clothes he wanted for Kemp, so he decided to turn to actual clothing production.
"I did it for him, but also for me," Lorenzo said in an interview with the complex.
Although he had no formal training in fashion, Lorenzo decided to change career path by setting up his own clothing line, which he financed himself with $ 14,000 in savings. His debut collection was a success and was even invited to a meeting with none other than Virgil Abelow
From there Lorenzo continued to collaborate with Virgil and Kanye West on a number of projects, including a collaboration with Yeezus Tour and Yeezy Season One.
The then-new brand, Fear of God, also piqued the interest of Justin Bieber, who wanted to redefine his style for his 2016 world tour.
So did other huge artists like Kendrick Lamar, Michael B. Jordan, Alan DeGeneres, Beyonce, Jared Leto and more.
So ever since, without outside investors, Lorenzo's fashion brand "Fear of God" is completely independent. From 2013 to 2019, its revenue from year to year doubled.
